The Angel Dance (A Poem for Little Ones)
By Laura Spiegel
When rays of sun set sleepily
And moonbeams cast their light,
When glowing stars soak up the sky,
A magic fills the night.
For when your blankets are tucked round
And evening prayers are said,
The angels soar below the clouds
And dance beside your bed.
Their wings outstretched, they circle you
And tap their feet in time
To music plucked from golden harps
And songs from nursery rhymes.
And while you dream of sugarplums,
They twirl both to and fro,
Their halos glowing cozily
To keep you warm below.
But when you rise upon the morn
And sun spills forth her rays,
The angels soar back to the clouds
To keep you safe through day.
But if you listen close tonight
When to your room you’re led,
You’ll hear the angels giggling as
They waltz back to your bed.
So know that you are blessed, dear,
And loved most through and through.
For angels only dance for special
Little ones like you.
